55. Surah Ar-Rahman
The Beneficent · Madani · 78 Ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
عَلَّمَ He taught ٱلْقُرْءَانَ the Quran ٢
Taught the Qur’ān,
— Come To Light
خَلَقَ He created ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ [the] man ٣
Created man,
— Come To Light
عَلَّمَهُ He taught him ٱلْبَيَانَ [the] speech ٤
[And] taught him eloquence.
— Come To Light
ٱلشَّمْسُ The sun وَٱلْقَمَرُ and the moon بِحُسْبَانٍۢ by (precise) calculation ٥
The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation,
— Come To Light
وَٱلنَّجْمُ And the stars وَٱلشَّجَرُ and the trees يَسْجُدَانِ both prostrate ٦
And the stars and trees prostrate.
— Come To Light
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ And the heaven رَفَعَهَا He raised it وَوَضَعَ and He has set up ٱلْمِيزَانَ the balance ٧
And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance
— Come To Light
أَلَّا That not تَطْغَوْا۟ you may transgress فِى in ٱلْمِيزَانِ the balance ٨
That you not transgress within the balance.
— Come To Light
وَأَقِيمُوا۟ And establish ٱلْوَزْنَ the weight بِٱلْقِسْطِ in justice وَلَا and (do) not تُخْسِرُوا۟ make deficient ٱلْمِيزَانَ the balance ٩
And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.
— Come To Light
وَٱلْأَرْضَ And the earth وَضَعَهَا He laid it لِلْأَنَامِ for the creatures ١٠
And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures.
— Come To Light
فِيهَا Therein فَـٰكِهَةٌۭ (is) fruit وَٱلنَّخْلُ and date-palms ذَاتُ having ٱلْأَكْمَامِ sheaths ١١
Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates]
— Come To Light
وَٱلْحَبُّ And the grain ذُو having ٱلْعَصْفِ husk وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ and scented plants ١٢
And grain having husks and scented plants.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ١٣
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
خَلَقَ He created ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ the man مِن from صَلْصَـٰلٍۢ clay كَٱلْفَخَّارِ like the pottery ١٤
He created man from clay like [that of] pottery.
— Come To Light
وَخَلَقَ And He created ٱلْجَآنَّ the jinn مِن from مَّارِجٍۢ a smokeless flame مِّن of نَّارٍۢ fire ١٥
And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ١٦
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
رَبُّ Lord ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ (of) the two Easts وَرَبُّ and Lord ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ (of) the two Wests ١٧
[He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ١٨
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
مَرَجَ He released ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ the two seas يَلْتَقِيَانِ meeting ١٩
He released the two seas, meeting [one another];
— Come To Light
بَيْنَهُمَا Between both of them بَرْزَخٌۭ (is) a barrier لَّا not يَبْغِيَانِ they transgress ٢٠
Between them is a barrier so neither of them transgresses.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٢١
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
يَخْرُجُ Come forth مِنْهُمَا from both of them ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ the pearl وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ and the coral ٢٢
From both of them emerge pearl and coral.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٢٣
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
وَلَهُ And for Him ٱلْجَوَارِ (are) the ships ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ elevated فِى in ٱلْبَحْرِ the sea كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ like mountains ٢٤
And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٢٥
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
كُلُّ Everyone مَنْ who عَلَيْهَا (is) on it فَانٍۢ (will) perish ٢٦
Everyone upon it [i.e., the earth] will perish,
— Come To Light
وَيَبْقَىٰ But will remain وَجْهُ (the) Face رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord ذُو (the) Owner ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ (of) Majesty وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ and Honor ٢٧
And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٢٨
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ Asks Him مَن whoever فِى (is) in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ and the earth كُلَّ Every يَوْمٍ day هُوَ He فِى (is) in شَأْنٍۢ a matter ٢٩
Whoever is within the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is in [i.e., bringing about] a matter.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٣٠
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
سَنَفْرُغُ Soon We will attend لَكُمْ to you أَيُّهَ O you ٱلثَّقَلَانِ two classes ٣١
We will attend to you, O prominent beings.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٣٢
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
يَـٰمَعْشَرَ O assembly ٱلْجِنِّ (of) the jinn وَٱلْإِنسِ and the men إِنِ If ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ you are able أَن to تَنفُذُوا۟ pass beyond مِنْ [of] أَقْطَارِ (the) regions ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ then pass لَا Not تَنفُذُونَ you (can) pass إِلَّا except بِسُلْطَـٰنٍۢ by authority ٣٣
O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allāh].
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٣٤
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
يُرْسَلُ Will be sent عَلَيْكُمَا against both of you شُوَاظٌۭ a flame مِّن of نَّارٍۢ fire وَنُحَاسٌۭ and smoke فَلَا and not تَنتَصِرَانِ you will (be able to) defend yourselves ٣٥
There will be sent upon you a flame of fire and smoke, and you will not defend yourselves.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٣٦
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
فَإِذَا Then when ٱنشَقَّتِ is split ٱلسَّمَآءُ the heaven فَكَانَتْ and it becomes وَرْدَةًۭ rose-colored كَٱلدِّهَانِ like murky oil ٣٧
And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil -
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٣٨
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
— Come To Light
فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢ Then (on) that Day لَّا not يُسْـَٔلُ will be asked عَن about ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ his sin إِنسٌۭ any man وَلَا and not جَآنٌّۭ any jinn ٣٩
Then on that Day none will be asked about his sin among men or jinn.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٤٠
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
يُعْرَفُ Will be known ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ the criminals بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ by their marks فَيُؤْخَذُ and will be seized بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى by the forelocks وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ and the feet ٤١
The criminals will be known by their marks, and they will be seized by the forelocks and the feet.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٤٢
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
هَـٰذِهِۦ This جَهَنَّمُ (is) Hell ٱلَّتِى which يُكَذِّبُ deny بِهَا [of it] ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ the criminals ٤٣
This is Hell, which the criminals deny.
— Come To Light
يَطُوفُونَ They will go around بَيْنَهَا between it وَبَيْنَ and between حَمِيمٍ scalding water ءَانٍۢ heated ٤٤
They will circulate between it and scalding water, heated [to the utmost degree].
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٤٥
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
وَلِمَنْ But for (him) who خَافَ fears مَقَامَ (the) standing رَبِّهِۦ (before) his Lord جَنَّتَانِ (are) two gardens ٤٦
But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens -
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٤٧
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
— Come To Light
ذَوَاتَآ Having أَفْنَانٍۢ branches ٤٨
Having [spreading] branches.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٤٩
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
فِيهِمَا In both of them عَيْنَانِ (are) two springs تَجْرِيَانِ flowing ٥٠
In both of them are two springs, flowing.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٥١
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
فِيهِمَا In both of them مِن [of] كُلِّ (are) every فَـٰكِهَةٍۢ fruits زَوْجَانِ (in) pairs ٥٢
In both of them are of every fruit, two kinds.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٥٣
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ Reclining عَلَىٰ on فُرُشٍۭ couches بَطَآئِنُهَا (whose) inner linings مِنْ (are) of إِسْتَبْرَقٍۢ ۚ brocade وَجَنَى and (the) fruit ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ (of) both the gardens دَانٍۢ (is) near ٥٤
[They are] reclining on beds whose linings are of silk brocade, and the fruit of the two gardens is hanging low.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٥٥
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
فِيهِنَّ In them قَـٰصِرَٰتُ (will be) companions of modest gaze ٱلطَّرْفِ (will be) companions of modest gaze لَمْ not يَطْمِثْهُنَّ has touched them إِنسٌۭ any man قَبْلَهُمْ before them وَلَا and not جَآنٌّۭ any jinn ٥٦
In them are women limiting [their] glances, untouched before them by man or jinnī -
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٥٧
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
— Come To Light
كَأَنَّهُنَّ As if they were ٱلْيَاقُوتُ rubies وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ and coral ٥٨
As if they were rubies and coral.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ So which ءَالَآءِ (of the) favors رَبِّكُمَا (of) your Lord تُكَذِّبَانِ will you both deny ٥٩
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
— Come To Light
هَلْ Is جَزَآءُ (the) reward ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ for the good إِلَّا but ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ good ٦٠
Is the reward for good [anything] but good?
— Come To Light
