وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ By those lined صَفًّۭا (in) rows ١
By those [angels] lined up in rows
— Come To Light
37. Surah As-Saffat
Those who set the Ranks · Makki · 182 Ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ And those who drive زَجْرًۭا strongly ٢
And those who drive [the clouds]
— Come To Light
فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ And those who recite ذِكْرًا (the) Message ٣
And those who recite the message,
— Come To Light
إِنَّ Indeed إِلَـٰهَكُمْ your Lord لَوَٰحِدٌۭ (is) surely One ٤
Indeed, your God is One,
— Come To Light
رَّبُّ Lord ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth وَمَا and what بَيْنَهُمَا (is) between both of them وَرَبُّ and Lord ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ (of) each point of sunrise ٥
Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.
— Come To Light
إِنَّا Indeed, We زَيَّنَّا [We] adorned ٱلسَّمَآءَ the sky ٱلدُّنْيَا [the world] بِزِينَةٍ with an adornment ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ (of) the stars ٦
Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars
— Come To Light
وَحِفْظًۭا And (to) guard مِّن against كُلِّ every شَيْطَـٰنٍۢ devil مَّارِدٍۢ rebellious ٧
And as protection against every rebellious devil
— Come To Light
لَّا Not يَسَّمَّعُونَ they may listen إِلَى to ٱلْمَلَإِ the assembly ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ [the] exalted وَيُقْذَفُونَ are pelted مِن from كُلِّ every جَانِبٍۢ side ٨
[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,
— Come To Light
دُحُورًۭا ۖ Repelled وَلَهُمْ and for them عَذَابٌۭ (is) a punishment وَاصِبٌ perpetual ٩
Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,
— Come To Light
إِلَّا Except مَنْ (him) who خَطِفَ snatches ٱلْخَطْفَةَ (by) theft فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ but follows him شِهَابٌۭ a burning flame ثَاقِبٌۭ piercing ١٠
Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].
— Come To Light
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ Then ask them أَهُمْ Are they أَشَدُّ a stronger خَلْقًا creation أَم or مَّنْ (those) whom خَلَقْنَآ ۚ We have created إِنَّا Indeed, We خَلَقْنَـٰهُم created them مِّن from طِينٍۢ a clay لَّازِبٍۭ sticky ١١
Then inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created them [i.e., men] from sticky clay.
— Come To Light
بَلْ Nay عَجِبْتَ you wonder وَيَسْخَرُونَ while they mock ١٢
But you wonder, while they mock,
— Come To Light
وَإِذَا And when ذُكِّرُوا۟ they are reminded لَا not يَذْكُرُونَ they receive admonition ١٣
And when they are reminded, they remember not.
— Come To Light
وَإِذَا And when رَأَوْا۟ they see ءَايَةًۭ a Sign يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ they mock ١٤
And when they see a sign, they ridicule.
— Come To Light
وَقَالُوٓا۟ And they say إِنْ Not هَـٰذَآ (is) this إِلَّا except سِحْرٌۭ a magic مُّبِينٌ clear ١٥
And say, "This is not but obvious magic.
— Come To Light
أَءِذَا Is it when مِتْنَا we are dead وَكُنَّا and have become تُرَابًۭا dust وَعِظَـٰمًا and bones أَءِنَّا shall we then لَمَبْعُوثُونَ be certainly resurrected ١٦
When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
— Come To Light
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا Or our fathers ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ former ١٧
And our forefathers [as well]?"
— Come To Light
قُلْ Say نَعَمْ Yes وَأَنتُمْ and you دَٰخِرُونَ (will be) humiliated ١٨
Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."
— Come To Light
فَإِنَّمَا Then only هِىَ it زَجْرَةٌۭ (will be) a cry وَٰحِدَةٌۭ single فَإِذَا then, behold هُمْ They يَنظُرُونَ will see ١٩
It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.
— Come To Light
وَقَالُوا۟ And they will say يَـٰوَيْلَنَا O woe to us هَـٰذَا This يَوْمُ (is the) Day ٱلدِّينِ (of) the Recompense ٢٠
They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."
— Come To Light
هَـٰذَا This يَوْمُ (is the) Day ٱلْفَصْلِ (of) Judgment ٱلَّذِى which كُنتُم you used to بِهِۦ [of it] تُكَذِّبُونَ deny ٢١
[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."
— Come To Light
۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ Gather ٱلَّذِينَ those who ظَلَمُوا۟ wronged وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ and their kinds وَمَا and what كَانُوا۟ they used (to) يَعْبُدُونَ worship ٢٢
[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship
— Come To Light
مِن Besides دُونِ Besides ٱللَّهِ Allah فَٱهْدُوهُمْ then lead them إِلَىٰ to صِرَٰطِ (the) Path ٱلْجَحِيمِ (of) the Hellfire ٢٣
Other than Allāh, and guide them to the path of Hellfire
— Come To Light
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ And stop them إِنَّهُم indeed, they مَّسْـُٔولُونَ (are) to be questioned ٢٤
And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."
— Come To Light
مَا What لَكُمْ (is) for you لَا (Why) not تَنَاصَرُونَ you help one another ٢٥
[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"
— Come To Light
بَلْ Nay هُمُ they ٱلْيَوْمَ (on) that Day مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ (will) surrender ٢٦
But they, that Day, are in surrender.
— Come To Light
وَأَقْبَلَ And will approach بَعْضُهُمْ some of them عَلَىٰ to بَعْضٍۢ others يَتَسَآءَلُونَ questioning one another ٢٧
And they will approach one another asking [i.e., blaming] each other.
— Come To Light
قَالُوٓا۟ They will say إِنَّكُمْ Indeed, you كُنتُمْ [you] used (to) تَأْتُونَنَا come (to) us عَنِ from ٱلْيَمِينِ the right ٢٨
They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."
— Come To Light
قَالُوا۟ They will say بَل Nay لَّمْ not تَكُونُوا۟ you were مُؤْمِنِينَ believers ٢٩
They [i.e., the oppressors] will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,
— Come To Light
وَمَا And not كَانَ was لَنَا for us عَلَيْكُم over you مِّن any سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖ authority بَلْ Nay كُنتُمْ you were قَوْمًۭا a people طَـٰغِينَ transgressing ٣٠
And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.
— Come To Light
فَحَقَّ So has been proved true عَلَيْنَا against us قَوْلُ (the) Word رَبِّنَآ ۖ (of) our Lord إِنَّا indeed, we لَذَآئِقُونَ (will) certainly taste ٣١
So the word [i.e., decree] of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].
— Come To Light
فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ So we led you astray إِنَّا indeed, we كُنَّا were غَـٰوِينَ astray ٣٢
And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators."
— Come To Light
فَإِنَّهُمْ Then indeed, they يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day فِى in ٱلْعَذَابِ the punishment مُشْتَرِكُونَ (will be) sharers ٣٣
So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.
— Come To Light
إِنَّا Indeed, We كَذَٰلِكَ thus نَفْعَلُ We deal بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ with the criminals ٣٤
Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.
— Come To Light
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they كَانُوٓا۟ were إِذَا when قِيلَ it was said لَهُمْ to them لَآ (There is) no إِلَـٰهَ god إِلَّا except ٱللَّهُ Allah يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ were arrogant ٣٥
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allāh," were arrogant
— Come To Light
وَيَقُولُونَ And they say أَئِنَّا Are we لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ to leave ءَالِهَتِنَا our gods لِشَاعِرٍۢ for a poet مَّجْنُونٍۭ mad ٣٦
And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"
— Come To Light
بَلْ Nay جَآءَ he has brought بِٱلْحَقِّ the truth وَصَدَّقَ and confirmed ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ the Messengers ٣٧
Rather, he [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.
— Come To Light
إِنَّكُمْ Indeed, you لَذَآئِقُوا۟ (will) surely taste ٱلْعَذَابِ the punishment ٱلْأَلِيمِ painful ٣٨
Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,
— Come To Light
وَمَا And not تُجْزَوْنَ you will be recompensed إِلَّا except مَا what كُنتُمْ you used to تَعْمَلُونَ do ٣٩
And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do -
— Come To Light
إِلَّا Except عِبَادَ (the) slaves ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ the chosen ones ٤٠
But not the chosen servants of Allāh.
— Come To Light
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those لَهُمْ for them رِزْقٌۭ (will be) a provision مَّعْلُومٌۭ determined ٤١
Those will have a provision determined -
— Come To Light
فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ Fruits وَهُم and they مُّكْرَمُونَ (will) be honored ٤٢
Fruits; and they will be honored
— Come To Light
فِى In جَنَّـٰتِ Gardens ٱلنَّعِيمِ (of) Delight ٤٣
In gardens of pleasure
— Come To Light
عَلَىٰ On سُرُرٍۢ thrones مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ facing each other ٤٤
On thrones facing one another.
— Come To Light
يُطَافُ Will be circulated عَلَيْهِم among them بِكَأْسٍۢ a cup مِّن from مَّعِينٍۭ a flowing spring ٤٥
There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,
— Come To Light
بَيْضَآءَ White لَذَّةٍۢ delicious لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ for the drinkers ٤٦
White and delicious to the drinkers;
— Come To Light
لَا Not فِيهَا in it غَوْلٌۭ (is) bad effect وَلَا and not هُمْ they عَنْهَا from it يُنزَفُونَ will be intoxicated ٤٧
No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.
— Come To Light
وَعِندَهُمْ And with them قَـٰصِرَٰتُ (will be) companions of modest gaze ٱلطَّرْفِ (will be) companions of modest gaze عِينٌۭ (having) beautiful eyes ٤٨
And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,
— Come To Light
كَأَنَّهُنَّ As if they were بَيْضٌۭ eggs مَّكْنُونٌۭ well protected ٤٩
As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.
— Come To Light
فَأَقْبَلَ And (will) approach بَعْضُهُمْ some of them عَلَىٰ to بَعْضٍۢ others يَتَسَآءَلُونَ questioning one another ٥٠
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.
— Come To Light
قَالَ Will say قَآئِلٌۭ a speaker مِّنْهُمْ among them إِنِّى Indeed, I كَانَ had لِى for me قَرِينٌۭ a companion ٥١
A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth].
— Come To Light
يَقُولُ Who (would) say أَءِنَّكَ Are you indeed لَمِنَ surely of ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ those who believe ٥٢
Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe
— Come To Light
أَءِذَا Is (it) when مِتْنَا we have died وَكُنَّا and become تُرَابًۭا dust وَعِظَـٰمًا and bones أَءِنَّا will we لَمَدِينُونَ surely be brought to Judgment ٥٣
That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'"
— Come To Light
قَالَ He (will) say هَلْ Will أَنتُم you مُّطَّلِعُونَ be looking ٥٤
He will say, "Would you [care to] look?"
— Come To Light
فَٱطَّلَعَ Then he (will) look فَرَءَاهُ and see him فِى in سَوَآءِ (the) midst ٱلْجَحِيمِ (of) the Hellfire ٥٥
And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.
— Come To Light
قَالَ He (will) say تَٱللَّهِ By Allah إِن verily كِدتَّ you almost لَتُرْدِينِ ruined me ٥٦
He will say, "By Allāh, you almost ruined me.
— Come To Light
وَلَوْلَا And if not نِعْمَةُ (for the) Grace رَبِّى (of) my Lord لَكُنتُ certainly, I (would) have been مِنَ among ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ those brought ٥٧
If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].
— Come To Light
أَفَمَا Then are not نَحْنُ we بِمَيِّتِينَ (to) die ٥٨
Then, are we not to die
— Come To Light
إِلَّا Except مَوْتَتَنَا our death ٱلْأُولَىٰ the first وَمَا and not نَحْنُ we بِمُعَذَّبِينَ will be punished ٥٩
Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"
— Come To Light
إِنَّ Indeed هَـٰذَا this لَهُوَ surely ٱلْفَوْزُ (is) the attainment ٱلْعَظِيمُ great ٦٠
Indeed, this is the great attainment.
— Come To Light
لِمِثْلِ For (the) like هَـٰذَا (of) this فَلْيَعْمَلِ let work ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَ the workers ٦١
For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.
— Come To Light
أَذَٰلِكَ Is that خَيْرٌۭ better نُّزُلًا (as) hospitality أَمْ or شَجَرَةُ (the) tree ٱلزَّقُّومِ (of) Zaqqum ٦٢
Is that [i.e., Paradise] a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqūm?
— Come To Light
إِنَّا Indeed, We جَعَلْنَـٰهَا [We] have made it فِتْنَةًۭ a trial لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ for the wrongdoers ٦٣
Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.
— Come To Light
إِنَّهَا Indeed, it شَجَرَةٌۭ (is) a tree تَخْرُجُ that grows فِىٓ in أَصْلِ (the) bottom ٱلْجَحِيمِ (of) the Hellfire ٦٤
Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,
— Come To Light
طَلْعُهَا Its emerging fruit كَأَنَّهُۥ (is) as if it رُءُوسُ (was) heads ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ (of) the devils ٦٥
Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.
— Come To Light
فَإِنَّهُمْ And indeed, they لَـَٔاكِلُونَ (will) surely eat مِنْهَا from it فَمَالِـُٔونَ and fill مِنْهَا with it ٱلْبُطُونَ (their) bellies ٦٦
And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.
— Come To Light
ثُمَّ Then إِنَّ indeed لَهُمْ for them عَلَيْهَا in it لَشَوْبًۭا (is) a mixture مِّنْ of حَمِيمٍۢ boiling water ٦٧
Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.
— Come To Light
ثُمَّ Then إِنَّ indeed مَرْجِعَهُمْ their return لَإِلَى (will) surely be to ٱلْجَحِيمِ the Hellfire ٦٨
Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.
— Come To Light
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they أَلْفَوْا۟ found ءَابَآءَهُمْ their fathers ضَآلِّينَ astray ٦٩
Indeed they found their fathers astray.
— Come To Light
فَهُمْ So they عَلَىٰٓ on ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ their footsteps يُهْرَعُونَ they hastened ٧٠
So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.
— Come To Light
وَلَقَدْ And verily ضَلَّ went astray قَبْلَهُمْ before them أَكْثَرُ most ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ (of) the former (people) ٧١
And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,
— Come To Light
وَلَقَدْ And verily أَرْسَلْنَا We sent فِيهِم among them مُّنذِرِينَ warners ٧٢
And We had already sent among them warners.
— Come To Light
فَٱنظُرْ Then see كَيْفَ how كَانَ was عَـٰقِبَةُ (the) end ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ (of) those who were warned ٧٣
Then look how was the end of those who were warned -
— Come To Light
إِلَّا Except عِبَادَ (the) slaves ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ the chosen ones ٧٤
But not the chosen servants of Allāh.
— Come To Light
وَلَقَدْ And verily نَادَىٰنَا called Us نُوحٌۭ Nuh فَلَنِعْمَ and Best ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ (are We as) Responders ٧٥
And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.
— Come To Light
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ And We saved him وَأَهْلَهُۥ and his family مِنَ from ٱلْكَرْبِ the distress ٱلْعَظِيمِ the great ٧٦
And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.
— Come To Light
وَجَعَلْنَا And We made ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ his offspring هُمُ [they] ٱلْبَاقِينَ the survivors ٧٧
And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]
— Come To Light
وَتَرَكْنَا And We left عَلَيْهِ for him فِى among ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ the later generations ٧٨
And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
— Come To Light
سَلَـٰمٌ Peace be عَلَىٰ upon نُوحٍۢ Nuh فِى among ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ the worlds ٧٩
"Peace upon Noah among the worlds."
— Come To Light
إِنَّا Indeed, We كَذَٰلِكَ thus نَجْزِى [We] reward ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ the good-doers ٨٠
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
— Come To Light
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he مِنْ (was) of عِبَادِنَا Our slaves ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ believing ٨١
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
— Come To Light
ثُمَّ Then أَغْرَقْنَا We drowned ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ the others ٨٢
Then We drowned the others [i.e., disbelievers].
— Come To Light
۞ وَإِنَّ And indeed مِن among شِيعَتِهِۦ his kind لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ (was) surely Ibrahim ٨٣
And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,
— Come To Light
إِذْ When جَآءَ he came رَبَّهُۥ (to) his Lord بِقَلْبٍۢ with a heart سَلِيمٍ sound ٨٤
When he came to his Lord with a sound heart
— Come To Light
إِذْ When قَالَ he said لِأَبِيهِ to his father وَقَوْمِهِۦ and his people مَاذَا What is it تَعْبُدُونَ you worship ٨٥
[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?
— Come To Light
أَئِفْكًا Is it falsehood ءَالِهَةًۭ gods دُونَ other than ٱللَّهِ Allah تُرِيدُونَ (that) you desire ٨٦
Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allāh you desire?
— Come To Light
فَمَا Then what ظَنُّكُم (do) you think بِرَبِّ about (the) Lord ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ (of) the worlds ٨٧
Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?"
— Come To Light
فَنَظَرَ Then he glanced نَظْرَةًۭ a glance فِى at ٱلنُّجُومِ the stars ٨٨
And he cast a look at the stars.
— Come To Light
فَقَالَ And he said إِنِّى Indeed, I am سَقِيمٌۭ sick ٨٩
And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill."
— Come To Light
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ So they turned away عَنْهُ from him مُدْبِرِينَ departing ٩٠
So they turned away from him, departing.
— Come To Light
فَرَاغَ Then he turned إِلَىٰٓ to ءَالِهَتِهِمْ their gods فَقَالَ and said أَلَا Do not تَأْكُلُونَ you eat ٩١
Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat?
— Come To Light
مَا What (is) لَكُمْ for you لَا not تَنطِقُونَ you speak ٩٢
What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?".
— Come To Light
فَرَاغَ Then he turned عَلَيْهِمْ upon them ضَرْبًۢا striking بِٱلْيَمِينِ with the right hand ٩٣
And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.
— Come To Light
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ Then they advanced إِلَيْهِ towards him يَزِفُّونَ hastening ٩٤
Then they [i.e., the people] came toward him, hastening.
— Come To Light
قَالَ He said أَتَعْبُدُونَ Do you worship مَا what تَنْحِتُونَ you carve ٩٥
He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,
— Come To Light
وَٱللَّهُ While Allah خَلَقَكُمْ created you وَمَا and what تَعْمَلُونَ you make ٩٦
While Allāh created you and that which you do?"
— Come To Light
قَالُوا۟ They said ٱبْنُوا۟ Build لَهُۥ for him بُنْيَـٰنًۭا a structure فَأَلْقُوهُ and throw him فِى into ٱلْجَحِيمِ the blazing Fire ٩٧
They said, "Construct for him a structure [i.e., furnace] and throw him into the burning fire."
— Come To Light
فَأَرَادُوا۟ And they intended بِهِۦ for him كَيْدًۭا a plot فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ but We made them ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ the lowest ٩٨
And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the most debased.
— Come To Light
وَقَالَ And he said إِنِّى Indeed, I am ذَاهِبٌ going إِلَىٰ to رَبِّى my Lord سَيَهْدِينِ He will guide me ٩٩
And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.
— Come To Light
رَبِّ My Lord هَبْ grant لِى me مِنَ of ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ the righteous ١٠٠
My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous."
— Come To Light
فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ So We gave him the glad tidings بِغُلَـٰمٍ of a boy حَلِيمٍۢ forbearing ١٠١
So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.
— Come To Light
فَلَمَّا Then when بَلَغَ he reached مَعَهُ the (age of) working with him ٱلسَّعْىَ the (age of) working with him قَالَ he said يَـٰبُنَىَّ O my son إِنِّىٓ Indeed, I أَرَىٰ have seen فِى in ٱلْمَنَامِ the dream أَنِّىٓ that I am أَذْبَحُكَ sacrificing you فَٱنظُرْ so look مَاذَا what تَرَىٰ ۚ you see قَالَ He said يَـٰٓأَبَتِ O my father ٱفْعَلْ Do مَا what تُؤْمَرُ ۖ you are commanded سَتَجِدُنِىٓ You will find me إِن if شَآءَ Allah wills ٱللَّهُ Allah wills مِنَ of ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ the patient ones ١٠٢
And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allāh wills, of the steadfast."
— Come To Light
فَلَمَّآ Then when أَسْلَمَا both of them had submitted وَتَلَّهُۥ and he put him down لِلْجَبِينِ upon his forehead ١٠٣
And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,
— Come To Light
وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ And We called out to him أَن that يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ O Ibrahim ١٠٤
We called to him, "O Abraham,
— Come To Light
قَدْ Verily صَدَّقْتَ you have fulfilled ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ the vision إِنَّا Indeed, We كَذَٰلِكَ thus نَجْزِى [We] reward ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ the good-doers ١٠٥
You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
— Come To Light
إِنَّ Indeed هَـٰذَا this لَهُوَ (was) surely [it] ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟ the trial ٱلْمُبِينُ clear ١٠٦
Indeed, this was the clear trial.
— Come To Light
وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُ And We ransomed him بِذِبْحٍ with a sacrifice عَظِيمٍۢ great ١٠٧
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,
— Come To Light
وَتَرَكْنَا And We left عَلَيْهِ for him فِى among ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ the later generations ١٠٨
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
— Come To Light
سَلَـٰمٌ Peace be عَلَىٰٓ on إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Ibrahim ١٠٩
"Peace upon Abraham."
— Come To Light
كَذَٰلِكَ Thus نَجْزِى We reward ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ the good-doers ١١٠
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
— Come To Light
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he (was) مِنْ of عِبَادِنَا Our slaves ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ believing ١١١
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
— Come To Light
وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ And We gave him glad tidings بِإِسْحَـٰقَ of Isaac نَبِيًّۭا a Prophet مِّنَ among ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ the righteous ١١٢
And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.
— Come To Light
وَبَـٰرَكْنَا And We blessed عَلَيْهِ him وَعَلَىٰٓ and [on] إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ Isaac وَمِن And of ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا their offspring مُحْسِنٌۭ (are) good-doers وَظَالِمٌۭ and unjust لِّنَفْسِهِۦ to himself مُبِينٌۭ clear ١١٣
And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself [i.e., sinner].
— Come To Light
وَلَقَدْ And verily مَنَنَّا We conferred Favor عَلَىٰ upon مُوسَىٰ Musa وَهَـٰرُونَ and Harun ١١٤
And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.
— Come To Light
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا And We saved both of them وَقَوْمَهُمَا and their people مِنَ from ٱلْكَرْبِ the distress ٱلْعَظِيمِ the great ١١٥
And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,
— Come To Light
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ And We helped them فَكَانُوا۟ so they became هُمُ so they became ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ the victors ١١٦
And We supported them so it was they who overcame.
— Come To Light
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَا And We gave both of them ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ the clear ١١٧
And We gave them the explicit Scripture [i.e., the Torah],
— Come To Light
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا And We guided both of them ٱلصِّرَٰطَ (to) the Path ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ the Straight ١١٨
And We guided them on the straight path.
— Come To Light
وَتَرَكْنَا And We left عَلَيْهِمَا for both of them فِى among ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ the later generations ١١٩
And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:
— Come To Light
سَلَـٰمٌ Peace be عَلَىٰ upon مُوسَىٰ Musa وَهَـٰرُونَ and Harun ١٢٠
"Peace upon Moses and Aaron."
— Come To Light
إِنَّا Indeed, We كَذَٰلِكَ thus نَجْزِى reward ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ the good-doers ١٢١
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
— Come To Light
إِنَّهُمَا Indeed, both of them مِنْ (were) of عِبَادِنَا Our slaves ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ believing ١٢٢
Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.
— Come To Light
وَإِنَّ And indeed إِلْيَاسَ Elijah لَمِنَ (was) surely of ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ the Messengers ١٢٣
And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,
— Come To Light
إِذْ When قَالَ he said لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ to his people أَلَا Will not تَتَّقُونَ you fear ١٢٤
When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allāh?
— Come To Light
أَتَدْعُونَ Do you call بَعْلًۭا Baal وَتَذَرُونَ and you forsake أَحْسَنَ (the) Best ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ (of) Creators ١٢٥
Do you call upon Baʿl and leave the best of creators -
— Come To Light
ٱللَّهَ Allah رَبَّكُمْ your Lord وَرَبَّ and (the) Lord ءَابَآئِكُمُ (of) your forefathers ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ (of) your forefathers ١٢٦
Allāh, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"
— Come To Light
فَكَذَّبُوهُ But they denied him فَإِنَّهُمْ so indeed, they لَمُحْضَرُونَ (will) surely be brought ١٢٧
And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],
— Come To Light
إِلَّا Except عِبَادَ (the) slaves ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ the chosen ones ١٢٨
Except the chosen servants of Allāh.
— Come To Light
وَتَرَكْنَا And We left عَلَيْهِ for him فِى among ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ the later generations ١٢٩
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
— Come To Light
سَلَـٰمٌ Peace be عَلَىٰٓ upon إِلْ يَاسِينَ Elijah ١٣٠
"Peace upon Elias."
— Come To Light
إِنَّا Indeed, We كَذَٰلِكَ thus نَجْزِى reward ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ the good-doers ١٣١
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
— Come To Light
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he (was) مِنْ of عِبَادِنَا Our slaves ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ believing ١٣٢
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
— Come To Light
وَإِنَّ And indeed لُوطًۭا Lut لَّمِنَ (was) of ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ the Messengers ١٣٣
And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.
— Come To Light
إِذْ When نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ We saved him وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ and his family أَجْمَعِينَ all ١٣٤
[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,
— Come To Light
إِلَّا Except عَجُوزًۭا an old woman فِى (was) among ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ those who remained behind ١٣٥
Except an old woman [i.e., his wife] among those who remained [with the evildoers].
— Come To Light
ثُمَّ Then دَمَّرْنَا We destroyed ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ the others ١٣٦
Then We destroyed the others.
— Come To Light
وَإِنَّكُمْ And indeed, you لَتَمُرُّونَ surely pass عَلَيْهِم by them مُّصْبِحِينَ (in the) morning ١٣٧
And indeed, you pass by them in the morning
— Come To Light
وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ And at night أَفَلَا Then will not تَعْقِلُونَ you use reason ١٣٨
And at night. Then will you not use reason?
— Come To Light
وَإِنَّ And indeed يُونُسَ Yunus لَمِنَ (was) surely of ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ the Messengers ١٣٩
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.
— Come To Light
إِذْ When أَبَقَ he ran away إِلَى to ٱلْفُلْكِ the ship ٱلْمَشْحُونِ laden ١٤٠
[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.
— Come To Light
