35:39

هُوَ He ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who جَعَلَكُمْ made you خَلَـٰٓئِفَ successors فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ the earth فَمَن And whoever كَفَرَ disbelieves فَعَلَيْهِ then upon him كُفْرُهُۥ ۖ (is) his disbelief وَلَا And not يَزِيدُ increase ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers كُفْرُهُمْ their disbelief عِندَ near رَبِّهِمْ their Lord إِلَّا except مَقْتًۭا ۖ (in) hatred وَلَا and not يَزِيدُ increase ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers كُفْرُهُمْ their disbelief إِلَّا except خَسَارًۭا (in) loss ٣٩

It is He who has made you successors upon the earth. And whoever disbelieves - upon him will be [the consequence of] his disbelief. And the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them in the sight of their Lord except in hatred; and the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them except in loss.

35:40

قُلْ Say أَرَءَيْتُمْ Have you seen شُرَكَآءَكُمُ your partners ٱلَّذِينَ those whom تَدْعُونَ you call مِن besides دُونِ besides ٱللَّهِ Allah أَرُونِى Show Me مَاذَا what خَلَقُوا۟ they have created مِنَ from ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth أَمْ or لَهُمْ for them شِرْكٌۭ (is) a share فِى in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens أَمْ Or ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ have We given them كِتَـٰبًۭا a Book فَهُمْ so they عَلَىٰ (are) on بَيِّنَتٍۢ a clear proof مِّنْهُ ۚ therefrom بَلْ Nay إِن not يَعِدُ promise ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ the wrongdoers بَعْضُهُم some of them بَعْضًا (to) others إِلَّا except غُرُورًا delusion ٤٠

Say, "Have you considered your 'partners' whom you invoke besides Allāh? Show me what they have created from the earth, or have they partnership [with Him] in the heavens? Or have We given them a book so they are [standing] on evidence therefrom? [No], rather, the wrongdoers do not promise each other except delusion."

35:41

۞ إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah يُمْسِكُ upholds ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضَ and the earth أَن lest تَزُولَا ۚ they cease وَلَئِن And if زَالَتَآ they should cease إِنْ not أَمْسَكَهُمَا can uphold them مِنْ any أَحَدٍۢ one مِّنۢ after Him بَعْدِهِۦٓ ۚ after Him إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, He كَانَ is حَلِيمًا Most Forbearing غَفُورًۭا Oft-Forgiving ٤١

Indeed, Allāh holds the heavens and the earth, lest they cease. And if they should cease, no one could hold them [in place] after Him. Indeed, He is Forbearing and Forgiving.

35:42

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ And they swore بِٱللَّهِ by Allah جَهْدَ (the) strongest أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ (of) their oaths لَئِن that if جَآءَهُمْ came to them نَذِيرٌۭ a warner لَّيَكُونُنَّ surely, they would be أَهْدَىٰ more guided مِنْ than إِحْدَى any ٱلْأُمَمِ ۖ (of) the nations فَلَمَّا But when جَآءَهُمْ came to them نَذِيرٌۭ a warner مَّا not زَادَهُمْ it increased them إِلَّا but نُفُورًا (in) aversion ٤٢

And they swore by Allāh their strongest oaths that if a warner came to them, they would be more guided than [any] one of the [previous] nations. But when a warner came to them, it did not increase them except in aversion

35:43

ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا (Due to) arrogance فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the land وَمَكْرَ and plotting ٱلسَّيِّئِ ۚ (of) the evil وَلَا but not يَحِيقُ encompasses ٱلْمَكْرُ the plot ٱلسَّيِّئُ (of) the evil إِلَّا except بِأَهْلِهِۦ ۚ its own people فَهَلْ Then do يَنظُرُونَ they wait إِلَّا except سُنَّتَ (the) way ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ۚ (of) the former (people) فَلَن But never تَجِدَ you will find لِسُنَّتِ in (the) way ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah تَبْدِيلًۭا ۖ any change وَلَن and never تَجِدَ you will find لِسُنَّتِ in (the) way ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah تَحْوِيلًا any alteration ٤٣

[Due to] arrogance in the land and plotting of evil; but the evil plot does not encompass except its own people. Then do they await except the way [i.e., fate] of the former peoples? But you will never find in the way [i.e., established method] of Allāh any change, and you will never find in the way of Allāh any alteration.

35:44

أَوَلَمْ Have they not يَسِيرُوا۟ traveled فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the land فَيَنظُرُوا۟ and seen كَيْفَ how كَانَ was عَـٰقِبَةُ (the) end ٱلَّذِينَ (of) those who مِن (were) before them قَبْلِهِمْ (were) before them وَكَانُوٓا۟ And they were أَشَدَّ stronger مِنْهُمْ than them قُوَّةًۭ ۚ (in) power وَمَا But not كَانَ is ٱللَّهُ Allah لِيُعْجِزَهُۥ that can escape (from) Him مِن any شَىْءٍۢ thing فِى in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَلَا and not فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ the earth إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, He كَانَ is عَلِيمًۭا All-Knower قَدِيرًۭا All-Powerful ٤٤

Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? And they were greater than them in power. But Allāh is not to be caused failure [i.e., prevented] by anything in the heavens or on the earth. Indeed, He is ever Knowing and Competent.
