12:87

يَـٰبَنِىَّ O my sons ٱذْهَبُوا۟ Go فَتَحَسَّسُوا۟ and inquire مِن about يُوسُفَ Yusuf وَأَخِيهِ and his brother وَلَا and not تَا۟يْـَٔسُوا۟ despair مِن of رَّوْحِ (the) Mercy of Allah ٱللَّهِ ۖ (the) Mercy of Allah إِنَّهُۥ Indeed لَا none يَا۟يْـَٔسُ despairs مِن of رَّوْحِ (the) Mercy of Allah ٱللَّهِ (the) Mercy of Allah إِلَّا except ٱلْقَوْمُ the people ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ the disbelievers ٨٧

O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and despair not of relief from Allāh. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allāh except the disbelieving people."

12:88

فَلَمَّا So when دَخَلُوا۟ they entered عَلَيْهِ upon him قَالُوا۟ they said يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O Aziz ٱلْعَزِيزُ O Aziz مَسَّنَا Has touched us وَأَهْلَنَا and our family ٱلضُّرُّ the adversity وَجِئْنَا and we have come بِبِضَـٰعَةٍۢ with goods مُّزْجَىٰةٍۢ (of) little value فَأَوْفِ but pay (in) full لَنَا to us ٱلْكَيْلَ the measure وَتَصَدَّقْ and be charitable عَلَيْنَآ ۖ to us إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah يَجْزِى rewards ٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ the charitable ٨٨

So when they entered upon him [i.e., Joseph], they said, "O ʿAzeez, adversity has touched us and our family, and we have come with goods poor in quality, but give us full measure and be charitable to us. Indeed, Allāh rewards the charitable."

12:89

قَالَ He said هَلْ Do عَلِمْتُم you know مَّا what فَعَلْتُم you did بِيُوسُفَ with Yusuf وَأَخِيهِ and his brother إِذْ when أَنتُمْ you were جَـٰهِلُونَ ignorant ٨٩

He said, "Do you know what you did with Joseph and his brother when you were ignorant?"

12:90

قَالُوٓا۟ They said أَءِنَّكَ Are you indeed لَأَنتَ surely you يُوسُفُ ۖ Yusuf قَالَ He said أَنَا۠ I am يُوسُفُ Yusuf وَهَـٰذَآ and this أَخِى ۖ (is) my brother قَدْ Indeed مَنَّ Allah has been gracious ٱللَّهُ Allah has been gracious عَلَيْنَآ ۖ to us إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he مَن who يَتَّقِ fears Allah وَيَصْبِرْ and (is) patient فَإِنَّ then indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah لَا (does) not يُضِيعُ let go waste أَجْرَ (the) reward ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ (of) the good-doers ٩٠

They said, "Are you indeed Joseph?" He said, "I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allāh has certainly favored us. Indeed, he who fears Allāh and is patient, then indeed, Allāh does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good."

12:91

قَالُوا۟ They said تَٱللَّهِ By Allah لَقَدْ certainly ءَاثَرَكَ Allah has preferred you ٱللَّهُ Allah has preferred you عَلَيْنَا over us وَإِن and indeed كُنَّا we have been لَخَـٰطِـِٔينَ sinners ٩١

They said, "By Allāh, certainly has Allāh preferred you over us, and indeed, we have been sinners."

12:92

قَالَ He said لَا No تَثْرِيبَ blame عَلَيْكُمُ upon you ٱلْيَوْمَ ۖ today يَغْفِرُ Allah will forgive ٱللَّهُ Allah will forgive لَكُمْ ۖ you وَهُوَ and He أَرْحَمُ (is) the Most Merciful ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ (of) those who show mercy ٩٢

He said, "No blame will there be upon you today. May Allāh forgive you; and He is the most merciful of the merciful.

12:93

ٱذْهَبُوا۟ Go بِقَمِيصِى with this shirt of mine هَـٰذَا with this shirt of mine فَأَلْقُوهُ and cast it عَلَىٰ over وَجْهِ (the) face أَبِى (of) my father يَأْتِ he will regain sight بَصِيرًۭا he will regain sight وَأْتُونِى And bring to me بِأَهْلِكُمْ your family أَجْمَعِينَ all together ٩٣

Take this, my shirt, and cast it over the face of my father; he will become seeing. And bring me your family, all together."

12:94

وَلَمَّا And when فَصَلَتِ departed ٱلْعِيرُ the caravan قَالَ their father said أَبُوهُمْ their father said إِنِّى Indeed, I لَأَجِدُ [I] find رِيحَ (the) smell يُوسُفَ ۖ (of) Yusuf لَوْلَآ if not أَن that تُفَنِّدُونِ you think me weakened in mind ٩٤

And when the caravan departed [from Egypt], their father said, "Indeed, I find the smell of Joseph [and would say that he was alive] if you did not think me weakened in mind."

12:95

قَالُوا۟ They said تَٱللَّهِ By Allah إِنَّكَ indeed, you لَفِى surely (are) in ضَلَـٰلِكَ your error ٱلْقَدِيمِ old ٩٥

They said, "By Allāh, indeed you are in your [same] old error."
