يَسْتَفْتُونَكَ They seek your ruling قُلِ Say ٱللَّهُ Allah يُفْتِيكُمْ gives you a ruling فِى concerning ٱلْكَلَـٰلَةِ ۚ the Kalala إِنِ if ٱمْرُؤٌا۟ a man هَلَكَ died لَيْسَ (and) not لَهُۥ he has وَلَدٌۭ a child وَلَهُۥٓ and he has أُخْتٌۭ a sister فَلَهَا then for her نِصْفُ (is) a half مَا (of) what تَرَكَ ۚ he left وَهُوَ And he يَرِثُهَآ will inherit from her إِن if لَّمْ not يَكُن is لَّهَا for her وَلَدٌۭ ۚ a child فَإِن But if كَانَتَا there were ٱثْنَتَيْنِ two females فَلَهُمَا then for them ٱلثُّلُثَانِ two thirds مِمَّا of what تَرَكَ ۚ he left وَإِن But if كَانُوٓا۟ they were إِخْوَةًۭ brothers and sisters رِّجَالًۭا men وَنِسَآءًۭ and women فَلِلذَّكَرِ then the male will have مِثْلُ like حَظِّ share ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۗ (of) the two females يُبَيِّنُ makes clear ٱللَّهُ Allah لَكُمْ to you أَن lest تَضِلُّوا۟ ۗ you go astray وَٱللَّهُ And Allah بِكُلِّ of every شَىْءٍ thing عَلِيمٌۢ (is) All-Knower ١٧٦
They request from you a [legal] ruling. Say, "Allāh gives you a ruling concerning one having neither descendants nor ascendants [as heirs]." If a man dies, leaving no child but [only] a sister, she will have half of what he left. And he inherits from her if she [dies and] has no child. But if there are two sisters [or more], they will have two thirds of what he left. If there are both brothers and sisters, the male will have the share of two females. Allāh makes clear to you [His law], lest you go astray. And Allāh is Knowing of all things.
