وَإِذْ And when قُلْنَا We said لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ to the Angels ٱسْجُدُوا۟ Prostrate لِـَٔادَمَ to Adam فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ so they prostrated إِلَّآ except إِبْلِيسَ Iblis كَانَ (He) was مِنَ of ٱلْجِنِّ the jinn فَفَسَقَ and he rebelled عَنْ against أَمْرِ the Command رَبِّهِۦٓ ۗ (of) his Lord أَفَتَتَّخِذُونَهُۥ Will you then take him وَذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ and his offspring أَوْلِيَآءَ (as) protectors مِن other than Me دُونِى other than Me وَهُمْ while they لَكُمْ (are) to you عَدُوٌّۢ ۚ enemies بِئْسَ Wretched لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ for the wrongdoers بَدَلًۭا (is) the exchange ٥٠
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from [i.e., disobeyed] the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an exchange.
