وَٱلَّذِينَ But those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا in Our Verses هُمْ they أَصْحَـٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ (of) the left (hand) ١٩
But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left.
— Come To Light
عَلَيْهِمْ Over them نَارٌۭ (will be the) Fire مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ closed in ٢٠
Over them will be fire closed in.
— Come To Light
The Sun · Makki · 15 Ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلشَّمْسِ By the sun وَضُحَىٰهَا and its brightness ١
By the sun and its brightness
— Come To Light
وَٱلْقَمَرِ And the moon إِذَا when تَلَىٰهَا it follows it ٢
And [by] the moon when it follows it
— Come To Light
وَٱلنَّهَارِ And the day إِذَا when جَلَّىٰهَا it displays it ٣
And [by] the day when it displays it
— Come To Light
وَٱلَّيْلِ And the night إِذَا when يَغْشَىٰهَا it covers it ٤
And [by] the night when it covers [i.e., conceals] it
— Come To Light
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ And the heaven وَمَا and (He) Who بَنَىٰهَا constructed it ٥
And [by] the sky and He who constructed it
— Come To Light
وَٱلْأَرْضِ And the earth وَمَا and by (He) Who طَحَىٰهَا spread it ٦
And [by] the earth and He who spread it
— Come To Light
وَنَفْسٍۢ And (the) soul وَمَا and (He) Who سَوَّىٰهَا proportioned it ٧
And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it
— Come To Light
فَأَلْهَمَهَا And He inspired it فُجُورَهَا (to distinguish) its wickedness وَتَقْوَىٰهَا and its righteousness ٨
And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,
— Come To Light
قَدْ Indeed أَفْلَحَ he succeeds مَن who زَكَّىٰهَا purifies it ٩
He has succeeded who purifies it,
— Come To Light
وَقَدْ And indeed خَابَ he fails مَن who دَسَّىٰهَا buries it ١٠
And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].
— Come To Light
كَذَّبَتْ Denied ثَمُودُ Thamud بِطَغْوَىٰهَآ by their transgression ١١
Thamūd denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,
— Come To Light
إِذِ When ٱنۢبَعَثَ (was) sent forth أَشْقَىٰهَا (the) most wicked of them ١٢
When the most wretched of them was sent forth.
— Come To Light
فَقَالَ But said لَهُمْ to them رَسُولُ (the) Messenger ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah نَاقَةَ (It is the) she-camel ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah وَسُقْيَـٰهَا and her drink ١٣
And the messenger of Allāh [i.e., Ṣāliḥ] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allāh or [prevent her from] her drink."
— Come To Light
فَكَذَّبُوهُ But they denied him فَعَقَرُوهَا and they hamstrung her فَدَمْدَمَ So destroyed عَلَيْهِمْ them رَبُّهُم their Lord بِذَنۢبِهِمْ for their sin فَسَوَّىٰهَا and leveled them ١٤
But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].
— Come To Light
وَلَا And not يَخَافُ He fears عُقْبَـٰهَا its consequences ١٥
And He does not fear the consequence thereof.

The Night · Makki · 21 Ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلَّيْلِ By the night إِذَا when يَغْشَىٰ it covers ١
By the night when it covers
— Come To Light
وَٱلنَّهَارِ And the day إِذَا when تَجَلَّىٰ it shines in brightness ٢
And [by] the day when it appears
— Come To Light
وَمَا And He Who خَلَقَ created ٱلذَّكَرَ the male وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ and the female ٣
And [by] He who created the male and female,
— Come To Light
