وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا And will avoid it ٱلْأَشْقَى the wretched one ١١
But the wretched one will avoid it
— Come To Light
ٱلَّذِى The one who يَصْلَى will burn ٱلنَّارَ (in) the Fire ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ [the] great ١٢
[He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,
— Come To Light
ثُمَّ Then لَا not يَمُوتُ he will die فِيهَا therein وَلَا and not يَحْيَىٰ will live ١٣
Neither dying therein nor living.
— Come To Light
قَدْ Certainly أَفْلَحَ has succeeded مَن (one) who تَزَكَّىٰ purifies (himself) ١٤
He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself
— Come To Light
وَذَكَرَ And remembers ٱسْمَ (the) name رَبِّهِۦ (of) his Lord فَصَلَّىٰ and prays ١٥
And mentions the name of his Lord and prays.
— Come To Light
بَلْ Nay تُؤْثِرُونَ You prefer ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ the life ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world ١٦
But you prefer the worldly life,
— Come To Light
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ While the Hereafter خَيْرٌۭ (is) better وَأَبْقَىٰٓ and everlasting ١٧
While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.
— Come To Light
إِنَّ Indeed هَـٰذَا this لَفِى surely (is) in ٱلصُّحُفِ the Scriptures ٱلْأُولَىٰ [the] former ١٨
Indeed, this is in the former scriptures,
— Come To Light
صُحُفِ (The) Scriptures إِبْرَٰهِيمَ (of) Ibrahim وَمُوسَىٰ and Musa ١٩
The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

88. Surah Al-Ghashiyah
The Overwhelming · Makki · 26 Ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
هَلْ Has أَتَىٰكَ (there) come to you حَدِيثُ (the) news ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ (of) the Overwhelming ١
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?
— Come To Light
وُجُوهٌۭ Faces يَوْمَئِذٍ that Day خَـٰشِعَةٌ (will be) humbled ٢
[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,
— Come To Light
عَامِلَةٌۭ Laboring نَّاصِبَةٌۭ exhausted ٣
Working [hard] and exhausted.
— Come To Light
تَصْلَىٰ They will burn نَارًا (in) a Fire حَامِيَةًۭ intensely hot ٤
They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.
— Come To Light
تُسْقَىٰ They will be given to drink مِنْ from عَيْنٍ a spring ءَانِيَةٍۢ boiling ٥
They will be given drink from a boiling spring.
— Come To Light
لَّيْسَ Not is لَهُمْ for them طَعَامٌ food إِلَّا except مِن from ضَرِيعٍۢ a bitter thorny plant ٦
For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant
— Come To Light
لَّا Not يُسْمِنُ it nourishes وَلَا and not يُغْنِى it avails مِن from جُوعٍۢ hunger ٧
Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger.
— Come To Light
وُجُوهٌۭ Faces يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day نَّاعِمَةٌۭ (will be) joyful ٨
[Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.
— Come To Light
لِّسَعْيِهَا With their effort رَاضِيَةٌۭ satisfied ٩
With their effort [they are] satisfied
— Come To Light
فِى In جَنَّةٍ a garden عَالِيَةٍۢ elevated ١٠
In an elevated garden,
— Come To Light
لَّا Not تَسْمَعُ they will hear فِيهَا therein لَـٰغِيَةًۭ vain talk ١١
Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.
— Come To Light
