4:105

إِنَّآ Indeed أَنزَلْنَآ We (have) sent down إِلَيْكَ to you ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book بِٱلْحَقِّ with the truth لِتَحْكُمَ so that you may judge بَيْنَ between ٱلنَّاسِ the people بِمَآ with what أَرَىٰكَ has shown you ٱللَّهُ ۚ Allah وَلَا And (do) not تَكُن be لِّلْخَآئِنِينَ for the deceitful خَصِيمًۭا a pleader ١٠٥

Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], the Book in truth so you may judge between the people by that which Allāh has shown you. And do not be for the deceitful an advocate.

— Come To Light

4:106

وَٱسْتَغْفِرِ And seek forgiveness ٱللَّهَ ۖ (of) Allah إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah كَانَ is غَفُورًۭا Oft-Forgiving رَّحِيمًۭا Most Merciful ١٠٦

And seek forgiveness of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is ever Forgiving and Merciful.

— Come To Light

4:107

وَلَا And (do) not تُجَـٰدِلْ argue عَنِ for ٱلَّذِينَ those who يَخْتَانُونَ deceive أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ themselves إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah لَا (does) not يُحِبُّ love مَن (the one) who كَانَ is خَوَّانًا treacherous أَثِيمًۭا (and) sinful ١٠٧

And do not argue on behalf of those who deceive themselves. Indeed, Allāh loves not one who is a habitually sinful deceiver.

4:108

يَسْتَخْفُونَ They seek to hide مِنَ from ٱلنَّاسِ the people وَلَا but not يَسْتَخْفُونَ (can) they hide مِنَ from ٱللَّهِ Allah وَهُوَ and He مَعَهُمْ (is) with them إِذْ when يُبَيِّتُونَ they plot by night مَا what لَا not يَرْضَىٰ (does) he approve مِنَ of ٱلْقَوْلِ ۚ the word وَكَانَ And is ٱللَّهُ Allah بِمَا of what يَعْمَلُونَ they do مُحِيطًا All-Encompassing ١٠٨

They conceal [their evil intentions and deeds] from the people, but they cannot conceal [them] from Allāh, and He is with them [in His knowledge] when they spend the night in such as He does not accept of speech. And ever is Allāh, of what they do, encompassing.

4:109

هَـٰٓأَنتُمْ Here you are هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ those who جَـٰدَلْتُمْ [you] argue عَنْهُمْ for them فِى in ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ the life ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world فَمَن but who يُجَـٰدِلُ will argue ٱللَّهَ (with) Allah عَنْهُمْ for them يَوْمَ (on the) Day ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) [the] Resurrection أَم or مَّن who يَكُونُ will be عَلَيْهِمْ [over them] وَكِيلًۭا (their) defender ١٠٩

Here you are - those who argue on their behalf in [this] worldly life - but who will argue with Allāh for them on the Day of Resurrection, or who will [then] be their representative?

— Come To Light

4:110

وَمَن And whoever يَعْمَلْ does سُوٓءًا evil أَوْ or يَظْلِمْ wrongs نَفْسَهُۥ his soul ثُمَّ then يَسْتَغْفِرِ seeks forgiveness ٱللَّهَ (of) Allah يَجِدِ he will find ٱللَّهَ Allah غَفُورًۭا Oft-Forgiving رَّحِيمًۭا Most Merciful ١١٠

And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness of Allāh will find Allāh Forgiving and Merciful.

4:111

وَمَن And whoever يَكْسِبْ earns إِثْمًۭا sin فَإِنَّمَا then only يَكْسِبُهُۥ he earns it عَلَىٰ against نَفْسِهِۦ ۚ his soul وَكَانَ And is ٱللَّهُ Allah عَلِيمًا All-Knowing حَكِيمًۭا All-Wise ١١١

And whoever earns [i.e., commits] a sin only earns it against himself. And Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise.

— Come To Light

4:112

وَمَن And whoever يَكْسِبْ earns خَطِيٓـَٔةً a fault أَوْ or إِثْمًۭا a sin ثُمَّ then يَرْمِ throws بِهِۦ it بَرِيٓـًۭٔا (on) an innocent فَقَدِ then surely ٱحْتَمَلَ he (has) burdened (himself) بُهْتَـٰنًۭا (with) a slander وَإِثْمًۭا and a sin مُّبِينًۭا manifest ١١٢

But whoever earns an offense or a sin and then blames it on an innocent [person] has taken upon himself a slander and manifest sin.

4:113

وَلَوْلَا And if not فَضْلُ (for the) Grace ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah عَلَيْكَ upon you وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ and His Mercy لَهَمَّت surely (had) resolved طَّآئِفَةٌۭ a group مِّنْهُمْ of them أَن to يُضِلُّوكَ mislead you وَمَا But not يُضِلُّونَ they mislead إِلَّآ except أَنفُسَهُمْ ۖ themselves وَمَا and not يَضُرُّونَكَ they will harm you مِن in شَىْءٍۢ ۚ anything وَأَنزَلَ And has sent down ٱللَّهُ Allah عَلَيْكَ to you ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ and [the] Wisdom وَعَلَّمَكَ and taught you مَا what لَمْ not تَكُن you did تَعْلَمُ ۚ know وَكَانَ And is فَضْلُ (the) Grace ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah عَلَيْكَ upon you عَظِيمًۭا great ١١٣

And if it was not for the favor of Allāh upon you, [O Muḥammad], and His mercy, a group of them would have determined to mislead you. But they do not mislead except themselves, and they will not harm you at all. And Allāh has revealed to you the Book and wisdom and has taught you that which you did not know. And ever has the favor of Allāh upon you been great.

4:114

۞ لَّا (There is) no خَيْرَ good فِى in كَثِيرٍۢ much مِّن of نَّجْوَىٰهُمْ their secret talk إِلَّا except مَنْ (he) who أَمَرَ orders بِصَدَقَةٍ charity أَوْ or مَعْرُوفٍ kindness أَوْ or إِصْلَـٰحٍۭ conciliation بَيْنَ between ٱلنَّاسِ ۚ the people وَمَن And who يَفْعَلْ does ذَٰلِكَ that ٱبْتِغَآءَ seeking مَرْضَاتِ pleasure ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah فَسَوْفَ then soon نُؤْتِيهِ We will give him أَجْرًا a reward عَظِيمًۭا great ١١٤

No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allāh - then We are going to give him a great reward.

4:115

وَمَن And whoever يُشَاقِقِ opposes ٱلرَّسُولَ the Messenger مِنۢ from بَعْدِ after مَا what تَبَيَّنَ (has) become clear لَهُ to him ٱلْهُدَىٰ (of) the guidance وَيَتَّبِعْ and he follows غَيْرَ other than سَبِيلِ (the) way ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ (of) the believers نُوَلِّهِۦ We will turn him مَا (to) what تَوَلَّىٰ he (has) turned وَنُصْلِهِۦ and We will burn him جَهَنَّمَ ۖ (in) Hell وَسَآءَتْ and evil it is مَصِيرًا (as) a destination ١١٥

And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows other than the way of the believers - We will give him what he has taken and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination.

4:116

إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah لَا does not يَغْفِرُ forgive أَن that يُشْرَكَ partners be associated بِهِۦ with Him وَيَغْفِرُ but He forgives مَا [what] دُونَ other than ذَٰلِكَ that لِمَن for whom يَشَآءُ ۚ He wills وَمَن And whoever يُشْرِكْ associates partners بِٱللَّهِ with Allah فَقَدْ then surely ضَلَّ he lost (the) way ضَلَـٰلًۢا straying بَعِيدًا far away ١١٦

Indeed, Allāh does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allāh has certainly gone far astray.

4:117

إِن Not يَدْعُونَ they invoke مِن from دُونِهِۦٓ besides Him إِلَّآ but إِنَـٰثًۭا female (deities) وَإِن and not يَدْعُونَ they invoke إِلَّا except شَيْطَـٰنًۭا Shaitaan مَّرِيدًۭا rebellious ١١٧

They call upon instead of Him none but female [deities], and they [actually] call upon none but a rebellious Satan,

— Come To Light

4:118

لَّعَنَهُ He was cursed ٱللَّهُ ۘ by Allah وَقَالَ and he said لَأَتَّخِذَنَّ I will surely take مِنْ from عِبَادِكَ your slaves نَصِيبًۭا a portion مَّفْرُوضًۭا appointed ١١٨

Whom Allāh has cursed. For he had said, "I will surely take from among Your servants a specific portion.

— Come To Light

4:119

وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْ And I will surely mislead them وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ and surely arouse desires in them وَلَـَٔامُرَنَّهُمْ and surely I will order them فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ so they will surely cut off ءَاذَانَ (the) ears ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ (of) the cattle وَلَـَٔامُرَنَّهُمْ and surely I will order them فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ so they will surely change خَلْقَ (the) creation ٱللَّهِ ۚ (of) Allah وَمَن And whoever يَتَّخِذِ takes ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ the Shaitaan وَلِيًّۭا (as) a friend مِّن from دُونِ besides ٱللَّهِ Allah فَقَدْ then surely خَسِرَ he (has) lost خُسْرَانًۭا a loss مُّبِينًۭا manifest ١١٩

And I will mislead them, and I will arouse in them [sinful] desires, and I will command them so they will slit the ears of cattle, and I will command them so they will change the creation of Allāh." And whoever takes Satan as an ally instead of Allāh has certainly sustained a clear loss.

4:120

يَعِدُهُمْ He promises them وَيُمَنِّيهِمْ ۖ and arouses desires in them وَمَا and not يَعِدُهُمُ promises them ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ the Shaitaan إِلَّا except غُرُورًا deception ١٢٠

He [i.e., Satan] promises them and arouses desire in them. But Satan does not promise them except delusion.

— Come To Light

4:121

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those مَأْوَىٰهُمْ their abode جَهَنَّمُ (is) Hell وَلَا and not يَجِدُونَ they will find عَنْهَا from it مَحِيصًۭا any escape ١٢١

The refuge of those will be Hell, and they will not find from it an escape.

4:122

وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe[d] وَعَمِلُوا۟ and do ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ [the] righteous deeds سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ We will admit them جَنَّـٰتٍۢ (in) Gardens تَجْرِى flow مِن from تَحْتِهَا underneath it ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ the rivers خَـٰلِدِينَ will abide فِيهَآ in it أَبَدًۭا ۖ forever وَعْدَ A Promise ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah حَقًّۭا ۚ (in) truth وَمَنْ and who أَصْدَقُ (is) truer مِنَ than ٱللَّهِ Allah قِيلًۭا (in) statement ١٢٢

But the ones who believe and do righteous deeds - We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. [It is] the promise of Allāh, [which is] truth, and who is more truthful than Allāh in statement.

— Come To Light

4:123

لَّيْسَ Not بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ by your desire وَلَآ and not أَمَانِىِّ (by the) desire أَهْلِ (of the) People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ۗ (of) the Book مَن Whoever يَعْمَلْ does سُوٓءًۭا evil يُجْزَ will be recompensed بِهِۦ for it وَلَا and not يَجِدْ he will find لَهُۥ for him مِن from دُونِ besides ٱللَّهِ Allah وَلِيًّۭا any protector وَلَا and not نَصِيرًۭا any helper ١٢٣

It [i.e., Paradise] is not [obtained] by your wishful thinking nor by that of the People of the Scripture. Whoever does a wrong will be recompensed for it, and he will not find besides Allāh a protector or a helper.

4:124

وَمَن And whoever يَعْمَلْ does مِنَ [of] ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ [the] righteous deeds مِن from ذَكَرٍ (the) male أَوْ or أُنثَىٰ female وَهُوَ and he مُؤْمِنٌۭ (is) a believer فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ then those يَدْخُلُونَ will enter ٱلْجَنَّةَ Paradise وَلَا and not يُظْلَمُونَ they will be wronged نَقِيرًۭا (even as much as) the speck on a date-seed ١٢٤

And whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female, while being a believer - those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged, [even as much as] the speck on a date seed.
