وَإِذَا And when لَقُوا۟ they meet ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe[d] قَالُوٓا۟ they say ءَامَنَّا We believe[d] وَإِذَا But when خَلَوْا۟ they are alone إِلَىٰ with شَيَـٰطِينِهِمْ their evil ones قَالُوٓا۟ they say إِنَّا Indeed, we مَعَكُمْ (are) with you إِنَّمَا only نَحْنُ we مُسْتَهْزِءُونَ (are) mockers ١٤
And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We believe"; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, "Indeed, we are with you; we were only mockers."
