وَلَقَدْ And certainly هَمَّتْ she did desire بِهِۦ ۖ him وَهَمَّ and he would have desired بِهَا her لَوْلَآ if not أَن that رَّءَا he saw بُرْهَـٰنَ the proof رَبِّهِۦ ۚ (of) his Lord كَذَٰلِكَ Thus لِنَصْرِفَ that We might avert عَنْهُ from him ٱلسُّوٓءَ the evil وَٱلْفَحْشَآءَ ۚ and the immorality إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he مِنْ (was) of عِبَادِنَا Our slaves ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ the sincere ٢٤
And she certainly determined [to seduce] him, and he would have inclined to her had he not seen the proof [i.e., sign] of his Lord. And thus [it was] that We should avert from him evil and immorality. Indeed, he was of Our chosen servants.
