وَلَقَدْ And verily أَهْلَكْنَا We destroyed ٱلْقُرُونَ the generations مِن before you قَبْلِكُمْ before you لَمَّا when ظَلَمُوا۟ ۙ they wronged وَجَآءَتْهُمْ and came to them رُسُلُهُم their Messengers بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ with clear proofs وَمَا but not كَانُوا۟ they were لِيُؤْمِنُوا۟ ۚ to believe كَذَٰلِكَ Thus نَجْزِى We recompense ٱلْقَوْمَ the people ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ (who are) criminals ١٣
And We had already destroyed generations before you when they wronged, and their messengers had come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe. Thus do We recompense the criminal people.
