Description
This collection gives you all forty “Rabbana” du’as from the Quran, each with its Arabic text, transliteration, translation, a short note on when to use it, and a video to help you pronounce and memorise it. Watch the animated karaoke-style video above, where the Arabic fills in along with the recitation.
How to make your du’a more likely to be accepted
- Do a good deed before making du’a (an act of kindness, two rak’ahs of prayer, reading the Quran, giving charity). This is called tawassul.
- Praise Allah using His rightful names and attributes: “And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them.” (7:180)
- Ask only from Allah, with humility and humbleness.
- Be conscious of what you are asking: be focused, present, and understand what you recite.
- Be persistent and do not lose hope.
- Send blessings upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
- Begin with tawbah: ask Allah for forgiveness and purify your record.
Do not forget the role you play in your du’a. You cannot ask Allah for your dream job and then take no action to make it happen. We ask Allah to make something possible, but we must also take the necessary steps and trust that He knows what is best for us.
Why make du’a?
Du’a is one of the believer’s best tools. It is not an excuse to avoid action, nor a rejection of what Allah has decreed; the Prophet ﷺ taught us to ask: “O Allah, guide me among those You have guided… and save me from the evil that You decreed. Indeed You decree, and none can decree upon You.” (Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 464)
