وَٱلسَّمَآءِ By the sky وَٱلطَّارِقِ and the night comer ١
By the sky and the night comer
— Come To Light
86. Surah At-Tariq
The Nightcommer · Makki · 17 Ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
وَمَآ And what أَدْرَىٰكَ can make you know مَا what ٱلطَّارِقُ the night comer (is) ٢
And what can make you know what is the night comer?
— Come To Light
ٱلنَّجْمُ (It is) the star ٱلثَّاقِبُ the piercing ٣
It is the piercing star
— Come To Light
إِن Not كُلُّ (is) every نَفْسٍۢ soul لَّمَّا but عَلَيْهَا over it حَافِظٌۭ (is) a protector ٤
There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.
— Come To Light
فَلْيَنظُرِ So let see ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ man مِمَّ from what خُلِقَ he is created ٥
So let man observe from what he was created.
— Come To Light
خُلِقَ He is created مِن from مَّآءٍۢ a water دَافِقٍۢ ejected ٦
He was created from a fluid, ejected,
— Come To Light
يَخْرُجُ Coming forth مِنۢ from بَيْنِ between ٱلصُّلْبِ the backbone وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ and the ribs ٧
Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.
— Come To Light
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, He عَلَىٰ to رَجْعِهِۦ return him لَقَادِرٌۭ (is) Able ٨
Indeed, He [i.e., Allāh], to return him [to life], is Able.
— Come To Light
يَوْمَ (The) Day تُبْلَى will be tested ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ the secrets ٩
The Day when secrets will be put on trial,
— Come To Light
فَمَا Then not لَهُۥ (is) for him مِن any قُوَّةٍۢ power وَلَا and not نَاصِرٍۢ any helper ١٠
Then he [i.e., man] will have no power or any helper.
— Come To Light
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ By the sky ذَاتِ which ٱلرَّجْعِ returns ١١
By the sky which sends back
— Come To Light
وَٱلْأَرْضِ And the earth ذَاتِ which ٱلصَّدْعِ cracks open ١٢
And [by] the earth which splits,
— Come To Light
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, it لَقَوْلٌۭ (is) surely a Word فَصْلٌۭ decisive ١٣
Indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a decisive statement,
— Come To Light
وَمَا And not هُوَ it بِٱلْهَزْلِ (is) for amusement ١٤
And it is not amusement.
— Come To Light
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they يَكِيدُونَ are plotting كَيْدًۭا a plot ١٥
Indeed, they are planning a plan,
— Come To Light
وَأَكِيدُ But I am planning كَيْدًۭا a plan ١٦
But I am planning a plan.
— Come To Light
فَمَهِّلِ So give respite ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ (to) the disbelievers أَمْهِلْهُمْ Give respite to them رُوَيْدًۢا little ١٧
So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.
— Come To Light
