وَٱلسَّمَآءِ By the sky ذَاتِ containing ٱلْبُرُوجِ the constellations ١
By the sky containing great stars
— Come To Light
85. Surah Al-Buruj
The Mansions of the Stars · Makki · 22 Ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلْيَوْمِ And the Day ٱلْمَوْعُودِ Promised ٢
And [by] the promised Day
— Come To Light
وَشَاهِدٍۢ And (the) witness وَمَشْهُودٍۢ and what is witnessed ٣
And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,
— Come To Light
قُتِلَ Destroyed were أَصْحَـٰبُ (the) companions ٱلْأُخْدُودِ (of) the pit ٤
Destroyed [i.e., cursed] were the companions of the trench
— Come To Light
ٱلنَّارِ (Of) the fire ذَاتِ full ٱلْوَقُودِ (of) the fuel ٥
[Containing] the fire full of fuel,
— Come To Light
إِذْ When هُمْ they عَلَيْهَا by it قُعُودٌۭ (were) sitting ٦
When they were sitting near it.
— Come To Light
وَهُمْ And they عَلَىٰ over مَا what يَفْعَلُونَ they were doing بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ to the believers شُهُودٌۭ witnesses ٧
And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses.
— Come To Light
وَمَا And not نَقَمُوا۟ they resented مِنْهُمْ [of] them إِلَّآ except أَن that يُؤْمِنُوا۟ they believed بِٱللَّهِ in Allah ٱلْعَزِيزِ the All-Mighty ٱلْحَمِيدِ the Praiseworthy ٨
And they resented them not except because they believed in Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,
— Come To Light
ٱلَّذِى The One Who لَهُۥ for Him مُلْكُ (is) the dominion ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ and the earth وَٱللَّهُ and Allah عَلَىٰ on كُلِّ every شَىْءٍۢ thing شَهِيدٌ (is) a Witness ٩
To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allāh, over all things, is Witness.
— Come To Light
إِنَّ Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ those who فَتَنُوا۟ persecuted ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ the believing men وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ and the believing women ثُمَّ then لَمْ not يَتُوبُوا۟ they repented فَلَهُمْ then for them عَذَابُ (is the) punishment جَهَنَّمَ (of) Hell وَلَهُمْ and for them عَذَابُ (is the) punishment ٱلْحَرِيقِ (of) the Burning Fire ١٠
Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.
— Come To Light
إِنَّ Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe وَعَمِلُوا۟ and do ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ the righteous deeds لَهُمْ for them جَنَّـٰتٌۭ (will be) Gardens تَجْرِى flow مِن from تَحْتِهَا underneath it ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ the rivers ذَٰلِكَ That ٱلْفَوْزُ (is) the success ٱلْكَبِيرُ the great ١١
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.
— Come To Light
إِنَّ Indeed بَطْشَ (the) Grip رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord لَشَدِيدٌ (is) surely strong ١٢
Indeed, the assault [i.e., vengeance] of your Lord is severe.
— Come To Light
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed He هُوَ He يُبْدِئُ originates وَيُعِيدُ and repeats ١٣
Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.
— Come To Light
وَهُوَ And He ٱلْغَفُورُ (is) the Oft-Forgiving ٱلْوَدُودُ the Most Loving ١٤
And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,
— Come To Light
ذُو Owner (of) ٱلْعَرْشِ the Throne ٱلْمَجِيدُ the Glorious ١٥
Honorable Owner of the Throne,
— Come To Light
فَعَّالٌۭ Doer لِّمَا of what يُرِيدُ He intends ١٦
Effecter of what He intends.
— Come To Light
هَلْ Has أَتَىٰكَ come to you حَدِيثُ (the) story ٱلْجُنُودِ (of) the hosts ١٧
Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -
— Come To Light
فِرْعَوْنَ Firaun وَثَمُودَ and Thamud ١٨
[Those of] Pharaoh and Thamūd?
— Come To Light
بَلِ Nay ٱلَّذِينَ Those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve فِى (are) in تَكْذِيبٍۢ denial ١٩
But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,
— Come To Light
وَٱللَّهُ But Allah مِن from وَرَآئِهِم behind them مُّحِيطٌۢ encompasses ٢٠
While Allāh encompasses them from behind.
— Come To Light
