إِذَا When ٱلسَّمَآءُ the sky ٱنفَطَرَتْ (is) cleft asunder ١
When the sky breaks apart
— Come To Light
82. Surah Al-Infitar
The Cleaving · Makki · 19 Ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
وَإِذَا And when ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ the stars ٱنتَثَرَتْ scatter ٢
And when the stars fall, scattering,
— Come To Light
وَإِذَا And when ٱلْبِحَارُ the seas فُجِّرَتْ are made to gush forth ٣
And when the seas are erupted
— Come To Light
وَإِذَا And when ٱلْقُبُورُ the graves بُعْثِرَتْ are overturned ٤
And when the [contents of] graves are scattered [i.e., exposed],
— Come To Light
عَلِمَتْ Will know نَفْسٌۭ a soul مَّا what قَدَّمَتْ it has sent forth وَأَخَّرَتْ and left behind ٥
A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
— Come To Light
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ man مَا What غَرَّكَ has deceived you بِرَبِّكَ concerning your Lord ٱلْكَرِيمِ the Most Noble ٦
O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
— Come To Light
ٱلَّذِى Who خَلَقَكَ created you فَسَوَّىٰكَ then fashioned you فَعَدَلَكَ then balanced you ٧
Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
— Come To Light
فِىٓ In أَىِّ whatever صُورَةٍۢ form مَّا what شَآءَ He willed رَكَّبَكَ He assembled you ٨
In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
— Come To Light
كَلَّا Nay بَلْ But تُكَذِّبُونَ you deny بِٱلدِّينِ the Judgment ٩
No! But you deny the Recompense.
— Come To Light
وَإِنَّ And indeed عَلَيْكُمْ over you لَحَـٰفِظِينَ (are) surely guardians ١٠
And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,
— Come To Light
كِرَامًۭا Noble كَـٰتِبِينَ recording ١١
Noble and recording;
— Come To Light
يَعْلَمُونَ They know مَا whatever تَفْعَلُونَ you do ١٢
They know whatever you do.
— Come To Light
إِنَّ Indeed ٱلْأَبْرَارَ the righteous لَفِى (will be) surely in نَعِيمٍۢ bliss ١٣
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
— Come To Light
وَإِنَّ And indeed ٱلْفُجَّارَ the wicked لَفِى (will be) surely in جَحِيمٍۢ Hellfire ١٤
And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.
— Come To Light
يَصْلَوْنَهَا They will burn (in) it يَوْمَ (on the) Day ٱلدِّينِ (of) the Judgment ١٥
They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,
— Come To Light
وَمَا And not هُمْ they عَنْهَا from it بِغَآئِبِينَ (will be) absent ١٦
And never therefrom will they be absent.
— Come To Light
وَمَآ And what أَدْرَىٰكَ can make you know مَا what يَوْمُ (is the) Day ٱلدِّينِ (of) the Judgment ١٧
And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
— Come To Light
ثُمَّ Then مَآ what أَدْرَىٰكَ can make you know مَا what يَوْمُ (is the) Day ٱلدِّينِ (of) the Judgment ١٨
Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
— Come To Light
يَوْمَ (The) Day لَا not تَمْلِكُ will have power نَفْسٌۭ a soul لِّنَفْسٍۢ for a soul شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ anything وَٱلْأَمْرُ and the Command يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلَّهِ (will be) with Allah ١٩
It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allāh.
