وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ By those who extract غَرْقًۭا violently ١
By those [angels] who extract with violence
— Come To Light
79. Surah An-Nazi'at
Those who drag forth · Makki · 46 Ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ And those who draw out نَشْطًۭا gently ٢
And [by] those who remove with ease
— Come To Light
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ And those who glide سَبْحًۭا swimming ٣
And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming
— Come To Light
فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ And those who race each other سَبْقًۭا (in) a race ٤
And those who race each other in a race
— Come To Light
فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ And those who arrange أَمْرًۭا (the) matter ٥
And those who arrange [each] matter,
— Come To Light
يَوْمَ (The) Day تَرْجُفُ will quake ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ the quaking one ٦
On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation],
— Come To Light
تَتْبَعُهَا Follows it ٱلرَّادِفَةُ the subsequent ٧
There will follow it the subsequent [one].
— Come To Light
قُلُوبٌۭ Hearts يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day وَاجِفَةٌ will palpitate ٨
Hearts, that Day, will tremble,
— Come To Light
أَبْصَـٰرُهَا Their eyes خَـٰشِعَةٌۭ humbled ٩
Their eyes humbled.
— Come To Light
يَقُولُونَ They say أَءِنَّا Will we لَمَرْدُودُونَ indeed be returned فِى to ٱلْحَافِرَةِ the former state ١٠
They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]?
— Come To Light
أَءِذَا What! When كُنَّا we are عِظَـٰمًۭا bones نَّخِرَةًۭ decayed ١١
Even if we should be decayed bones?"
— Come To Light
قَالُوا۟ They say تِلْكَ This إِذًۭا then كَرَّةٌ (would be) a return خَاسِرَةٌۭ losing ١٢
They say, "That, then, would be a losing return."
— Come To Light
فَإِنَّمَا Then only هِىَ it زَجْرَةٌۭ (will be) a shout وَٰحِدَةٌۭ single ١٣
Indeed, it will be but one shout,
— Come To Light
فَإِذَا And behold هُم They بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ (will be) awakened ١٤
And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.
— Come To Light
هَلْ Has أَتَىٰكَ (there) come to you حَدِيثُ (the) story مُوسَىٰٓ (of) Musa ١٥
Has there reached you the story of Moses? -
— Come To Light
إِذْ When نَادَىٰهُ called him رَبُّهُۥ his Lord بِٱلْوَادِ in the valley ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ the sacred طُوًى (of) Tuwa ١٦
When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Ṭuwā,
— Come To Light
ٱذْهَبْ Go إِلَىٰ to فِرْعَوْنَ Firaun إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he طَغَىٰ (has) transgressed ١٧
"Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.
— Come To Light
فَقُلْ And say هَل Would لَّكَ [for] you إِلَىٰٓ [to] أَن [that] تَزَكَّىٰ purify yourself ١٨
And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself
— Come To Light
وَأَهْدِيَكَ And I will guide you إِلَىٰ to رَبِّكَ your Lord فَتَخْشَىٰ so you would fear ١٩
And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'"
— Come To Light
فَأَرَىٰهُ Then he showed him ٱلْـَٔايَةَ the sign ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ the great ٢٠
And he showed him the greatest sign,
— Come To Light
فَكَذَّبَ But he denied وَعَصَىٰ and disobeyed ٢١
But he [i.e., Pharaoh] denied and disobeyed.
— Come To Light
ثُمَّ Then أَدْبَرَ he turned his back يَسْعَىٰ striving ٢٢
Then he turned his back, striving [i.e., plotting].
— Come To Light
فَحَشَرَ And he gathered فَنَادَىٰ and called out ٢٣
And he gathered [his people] and called out.
— Come To Light
فَقَالَ Then he said أَنَا۠ I am رَبُّكُمُ your Lord ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ the Most High ٢٤
And said, "I am your most exalted lord."
— Come To Light
فَأَخَذَهُ So seized him ٱللَّهُ Allah نَكَالَ (with) an exemplary punishment ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ (for) the last وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ and the first ٢٥
So Allāh seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]..
— Come To Light
إِنَّ Indeed فِى in ذَٰلِكَ that لَعِبْرَةًۭ surely (is) a lesson لِّمَن for whoever يَخْشَىٰٓ fears ٢٦
Indeed in that is a lesson [i.e., warning] for whoever would fear [Allāh].
— Come To Light
ءَأَنتُمْ Are you أَشَدُّ a more difficult خَلْقًا creation أَمِ or ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ the heaven بَنَىٰهَا He constructed it ٢٧
Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? He [i.e., Allāh] constructed it.
— Come To Light
رَفَعَ He raised سَمْكَهَا its ceiling فَسَوَّىٰهَا and proportioned it ٢٨
He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.
— Come To Light
وَأَغْطَشَ And He darkened لَيْلَهَا its night وَأَخْرَجَ and brought out ضُحَىٰهَا its brightness ٢٩
And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness.
— Come To Light
وَٱلْأَرْضَ And the earth بَعْدَ after ذَٰلِكَ that دَحَىٰهَآ He spread it ٣٠
And after that He spread the earth.
— Come To Light
أَخْرَجَ He brought forth مِنْهَا from it مَآءَهَا its water وَمَرْعَىٰهَا and its pasture ٣١
He extracted from it its water and its pasture,
— Come To Light
وَٱلْجِبَالَ And the mountains أَرْسَىٰهَا He made them firm ٣٢
And the mountains He set firmly
— Come To Light
مَتَـٰعًۭا (As) a provision لَّكُمْ for you وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ and for your cattle ٣٣
As enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.
— Come To Light
فَإِذَا But when جَآءَتِ comes ٱلطَّآمَّةُ the Overwhelming Calamity ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ the great ٣٤
But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -
— Come To Light
يَوْمَ (The) Day يَتَذَكَّرُ will remember ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ man مَا what سَعَىٰ he strove (for) ٣٥
The Day when man will remember that for which he strove,
— Come To Light
وَبُرِّزَتِ And will be made manifest ٱلْجَحِيمُ the Hellfire لِمَن to (him) who يَرَىٰ sees ٣٦
And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see -
— Come To Light
فَأَمَّا Then as for مَن (him) who طَغَىٰ transgressed ٣٧
So as for he who transgressed
— Come To Light
وَءَاثَرَ And preferred ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ the life ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world ٣٨
And preferred the life of the world,
— Come To Light
فَإِنَّ Then indeed ٱلْجَحِيمَ the Hellfire هِىَ it ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ (is) the refuge ٣٩
Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.
— Come To Light
وَأَمَّا But as for مَنْ (him) who خَافَ feared مَقَامَ standing رَبِّهِۦ (before) his Lord وَنَهَى and restrained ٱلنَّفْسَ his soul عَنِ from ٱلْهَوَىٰ the vain desires ٤٠
But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,
— Come To Light
فَإِنَّ Then indeed ٱلْجَنَّةَ Paradise هِىَ it (is) ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ the refuge ٤١
Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.
— Come To Light
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ They ask you عَنِ about ٱلسَّاعَةِ the Hour أَيَّانَ when مُرْسَىٰهَا (is) its arrival ٤٢
They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?
— Come To Light
فِيمَ In what أَنتَ (are) you مِن [of] ذِكْرَىٰهَآ (to) mention it ٤٣
In what [position] are you that you should mention it?
— Come To Light
إِلَىٰ To رَبِّكَ your Lord مُنتَهَىٰهَآ (is) its finality ٤٤
To your Lord is its finality.
— Come To Light
إِنَّمَآ Only أَنتَ you مُنذِرُ (are) a warner مَن (for him) who يَخْشَىٰهَا fears it ٤٥
You are only a warner for those who fear it.
— Come To Light
كَأَنَّهُمْ As though they يَوْمَ (the) Day يَرَوْنَهَا they see it لَمْ not يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ they had remained إِلَّا except عَشِيَّةً an evening أَوْ or ضُحَىٰهَا a morning thereof ٤٦
It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.
— Come To Light
