وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ By the ones sent forth عُرْفًۭا one after another ١
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts
— Come To Light
77. Surah Al-Mursalat
The Emissaries · Makki · 50 Ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ And the winds that blow عَصْفًۭا violently ٢
And the winds that blow violently
— Come To Light
وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ And the ones that scatter نَشْرًۭا far and wide ٣
And [by] the winds that spread [clouds]
— Come To Light
فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ And those who separate فَرْقًۭا (by the) Criterion ٤
And those [angels] who bring criterion
— Come To Light
فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ And those who bring down ذِكْرًا (the) Reminder ٥
And those [angels] who deliver a message.
— Come To Light
عُذْرًا (As) justification أَوْ or نُذْرًا warning ٦
As justification or warning,
— Come To Light
إِنَّمَا Indeed, what تُوعَدُونَ you are promised لَوَٰقِعٌۭ will surely occur ٧
Indeed, what you are promised is to occur.
— Come To Light
فَإِذَا So when ٱلنُّجُومُ the stars طُمِسَتْ are obliterated ٨
So when the stars are obliterated
— Come To Light
وَإِذَا And when ٱلسَّمَآءُ the heaven فُرِجَتْ is cleft asunder ٩
And when the heaven is opened
— Come To Light
وَإِذَا And when ٱلْجِبَالُ the mountains نُسِفَتْ are blown away ١٠
And when the mountains are blown away
— Come To Light
وَإِذَا And when ٱلرُّسُلُ the Messengers أُقِّتَتْ are gathered to their appointed time ١١
And when the messengers' time has come...
— Come To Light
لِأَىِّ For what يَوْمٍ Day أُجِّلَتْ are (these) postponed ١٢
For what Day was it postponed?
— Come To Light
لِيَوْمِ For (the) Day ٱلْفَصْلِ (of) Judgment ١٣
For the Day of Judgement.
— Come To Light
وَمَآ And what أَدْرَىٰكَ will make you know مَا what يَوْمُ (is the) Day ٱلْفَصْلِ (of) the Judgment ١٤
And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement?
— Come To Light
وَيْلٌۭ Woe يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ to the deniers ١٥
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
— Come To Light
أَلَمْ Did not نُهْلِكِ We destroy ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ the former (people) ١٦
Did We not destroy the former peoples?
— Come To Light
ثُمَّ Then نُتْبِعُهُمُ We follow them up ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ (with) the later ones ١٧
Then We will follow them with the later ones.
— Come To Light
كَذَٰلِكَ Thus نَفْعَلُ We deal بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ with the criminals ١٨
Thus do We deal with the criminals.
— Come To Light
وَيْلٌۭ Woe يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ to the deniers ١٩
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
— Come To Light
أَلَمْ Did not نَخْلُقكُّم We create you مِّن from مَّآءٍۢ a water مَّهِينٍۢ despicable ٢٠
Did We not create you from a liquid disdained?
— Come To Light
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ Then We placed it فِى in قَرَارٍۢ an abode مَّكِينٍ safe ٢١
And We placed it in a firm lodging [i.e., the womb]
— Come To Light
إِلَىٰ For قَدَرٍۢ a period مَّعْلُومٍۢ known ٢٢
For a known extent.
— Come To Light
فَقَدَرْنَا So We measured فَنِعْمَ and Best ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ (are We to) measure ٢٣
And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine.
— Come To Light
وَيْلٌۭ Woe يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ to the deniers ٢٤
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
— Come To Light
أَلَمْ Have not نَجْعَلِ We made ٱلْأَرْضَ the earth كِفَاتًا a receptacle ٢٥
Have We not made the earth a container
— Come To Light
أَحْيَآءًۭ (For the) living وَأَمْوَٰتًۭا and (the) dead ٢٦
Of the living and the dead?
— Come To Light
وَجَعَلْنَا And We made فِيهَا therein رَوَٰسِىَ firmly set mountains شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍۢ lofty وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم and We gave you to drink مَّآءًۭ water فُرَاتًۭا sweet ٢٧
And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water.
— Come To Light
وَيْلٌۭ Woe يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ to the deniers ٢٨
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
— Come To Light
ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ Proceed إِلَىٰ to مَا what كُنتُم you used to بِهِۦ in it تُكَذِّبُونَ deny ٢٩
[They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny.
— Come To Light
ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ Proceed إِلَىٰ to ظِلٍّۢ a shadow ذِى having ثَلَـٰثِ three شُعَبٍۢ columns ٣٠
Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns.
— Come To Light
لَّا No ظَلِيلٍۢ cool shade وَلَا and not يُغْنِى availing مِنَ against ٱللَّهَبِ the flame ٣١
[But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame."
— Come To Light
إِنَّهَا Indeed, it تَرْمِى throws up بِشَرَرٍۢ sparks كَٱلْقَصْرِ as the fortress ٣٢
Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress,
— Come To Light
كَأَنَّهُۥ As if they (were) جِمَـٰلَتٌۭ camels صُفْرٌۭ yellow ٣٣
As if they were yellowish [black] camels.
— Come To Light
وَيْلٌۭ Woe يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ to the deniers ٣٤
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
— Come To Light
هَـٰذَا This يَوْمُ (is) a Day لَا not يَنطِقُونَ they will speak ٣٥
This is a Day they will not speak,
— Come To Light
وَلَا And not يُؤْذَنُ will it be permitted لَهُمْ for them فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ to make excuses ٣٦
Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse.
— Come To Light
وَيْلٌۭ Woe يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ to the deniers ٣٧
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
— Come To Light
هَـٰذَا This يَوْمُ (is the) Day ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ (of) Judgment جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ We have gathered you وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ and the former (people) ٣٨
This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples.
— Come To Light
فَإِن So if كَانَ is لَكُمْ for you كَيْدٌۭ a plan فَكِيدُونِ then plan against Me ٣٩
So if you have a plan, then plan against Me.
— Come To Light
وَيْلٌۭ Woe يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ to the deniers ٤٠
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
— Come To Light
إِنَّ Indeed ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ the righteous فِى (will be) in ظِلَـٰلٍۢ shades وَعُيُونٍۢ and springs ٤١
Indeed, the righteous will be among shades and springs
— Come To Light
وَفَوَٰكِهَ And fruits مِمَّا from what يَشْتَهُونَ they desire ٤٢
And fruits from whatever they desire,
— Come To Light
كُلُوا۟ Eat وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ and drink هَنِيٓـًٔۢا (in) satisfaction بِمَا for what كُنتُمْ you used to تَعْمَلُونَ do ٤٣
[Being told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."
— Come To Light
إِنَّا Indeed, We كَذَٰلِكَ thus نَجْزِى reward ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ the good-doers ٤٤
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
— Come To Light
وَيْلٌۭ Woe يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ to the deniers ٤٥
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
— Come To Light
كُلُوا۟ Eat وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ and enjoy yourselves قَلِيلًا a little إِنَّكُم indeed, you مُّجْرِمُونَ (are) criminals ٤٦
[O disbelievers], eat and enjoy yourselves a little; indeed, you are criminals.
— Come To Light
وَيْلٌۭ Woe يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ to the deniers ٤٧
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
— Come To Light
وَإِذَا And when قِيلَ it is said لَهُمُ to them ٱرْكَعُوا۟ Bow لَا not يَرْكَعُونَ they bow ٤٨
And when it is said to them, "Bow [in prayer]," they do not bow.
— Come To Light
وَيْلٌۭ Woe يَوْمَئِذٍۢ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ to the deniers ٤٩
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
— Come To Light
فَبِأَىِّ Then in what حَدِيثٍۭ statement بَعْدَهُۥ after it يُؤْمِنُونَ will they believe ٥٠
Then in what statement after it [i.e., the Qur’ān] will they believe?
— Come To Light
