وَإِذْ And when أَخَذَ (was) taken رَبُّكَ (by) your Lord مِنۢ from بَنِىٓ (the) Children ءَادَمَ (of) Adam مِن from ظُهُورِهِمْ their loins ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ their descendants وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ and made them testify عَلَىٰٓ over أَنفُسِهِمْ themselves أَلَسْتُ Am I not بِرَبِّكُمْ ۖ your Lord قَالُوا۟ They said بَلَىٰ ۛ Yes شَهِدْنَآ ۛ we have testified أَن Lest تَقُولُوا۟ you say يَوْمَ (on the) Day ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection إِنَّا Indeed كُنَّا we were عَنْ about هَـٰذَا this غَـٰفِلِينَ unaware ١٧٢

أَوْ Or تَقُولُوٓا۟ you say إِنَّمَآ Only أَشْرَكَ partners (were) associated (with Allah) ءَابَآؤُنَا (by) our forefathers مِن from قَبْلُ before (us) وَكُنَّا and we are ذُرِّيَّةًۭ descendants مِّنۢ from بَعْدِهِمْ ۖ after them أَفَتُهْلِكُنَا So will You destroy us بِمَا for what فَعَلَ did ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ the falsifiers ١٧٣

وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus نُفَصِّلُ We explain ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ the Verses وَلَعَلَّهُمْ so that they may يَرْجِعُونَ return ١٧٤
