يُسَبِّحُ Glorifies لِلَّهِ Allah مَا whatever فِى (is) in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَمَا and whatever فِى (is) in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth ٱلْمَلِكِ the Sovereign ٱلْقُدُّوسِ the Holy ٱلْعَزِيزِ the All-Mighty ٱلْحَكِيمِ the All-Wise ١
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allāh, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
— Come To Light
هُوَ He ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who بَعَثَ sent فِى among ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ the unlettered رَسُولًۭا a Messenger مِّنْهُمْ from themselves يَتْلُوا۟ reciting عَلَيْهِمْ to them ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ His Verses وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ and purifying them وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ and teaching them ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ and the wisdom وَإِن although كَانُوا۟ they were مِن from قَبْلُ before لَفِى surely in ضَلَـٰلٍۢ an error مُّبِينٍۢ clear ٢
It is He who has sent among the unlettered [Arabs] a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] and wisdom [i.e., the sunnah] - although they were before in clear error -
— Come To Light
وَءَاخَرِينَ And others مِنْهُمْ among them لَمَّا who have not yet يَلْحَقُوا۟ joined بِهِمْ ۚ them وَهُوَ and He ٱلْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty ٱلْحَكِيمُ the All-Wise ٣
And [to] others of them who have not yet joined them. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
— Come To Light
ذَٰلِكَ That فَضْلُ (is the) Bounty ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah يُؤْتِيهِ He gives it مَن (to) whom يَشَآءُ ۚ He wills وَٱللَّهُ And Allah ذُو (is the) Possessor ٱلْفَضْلِ (of) Bounty ٱلْعَظِيمِ the Great ٤
That is the bounty of Allāh, which He gives to whom He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.
— Come To Light
مَثَلُ (The) likeness ٱلَّذِينَ (of) those who حُمِّلُوا۟ were entrusted ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ (with) the Taurat ثُمَّ then لَمْ not يَحْمِلُوهَا they bore it كَمَثَلِ (is) like ٱلْحِمَارِ the donkey يَحْمِلُ who carries أَسْفَارًۢا ۚ books بِئْسَ Wretched is مَثَلُ (the) example ٱلْقَوْمِ (of) the people ٱلَّذِينَ who كَذَّبُوا۟ deny بِـَٔايَـٰتِ (the) Signs ٱللَّهِ ۚ (of) Allah وَٱللَّهُ And Allah لَا (does) not يَهْدِى guide ٱلْقَوْمَ the people ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ the wrongdoers ٥
The example of those who were entrusted with the Torah and then did not take it on is like that of a donkey who carries volumes [of books]. Wretched is the example of the people who deny the signs of Allāh. And Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.
— Come To Light
قُلْ Say يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O ٱلَّذِينَ you (who) هَادُوٓا۟ (are) Jews إِن If زَعَمْتُمْ you claim أَنَّكُمْ that you أَوْلِيَآءُ (are) allies لِلَّهِ of Allah مِن from دُونِ excluding ٱلنَّاسِ the people فَتَمَنَّوُا۟ then wish ٱلْمَوْتَ (for) the death إِن if كُنتُمْ you are صَـٰدِقِينَ truthful ٦
Say, "O you who are Jews, if you claim that you are allies of Allāh, excluding the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful."
— Come To Light
وَلَا But not يَتَمَنَّوْنَهُۥٓ they will wish for it أَبَدًۢا ever بِمَا for what قَدَّمَتْ (have) sent forth أَيْدِيهِمْ ۚ their hands وَٱللَّهُ And Allah عَلِيمٌۢ (is) All-Knowing بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ of the wrongdoers ٧
But they will not wish for it, ever, because of what their hands have put forth. And Allāh is Knowing of the wrongdoers.
— Come To Light
قُلْ Say إِنَّ Indeed ٱلْمَوْتَ the death ٱلَّذِى which تَفِرُّونَ you flee مِنْهُ from it فَإِنَّهُۥ then surely it مُلَـٰقِيكُمْ ۖ (will) meet you ثُمَّ Then تُرَدُّونَ you will be sent back إِلَىٰ to عَـٰلِمِ (the) All-Knower ٱلْغَيْبِ (of) the unseen وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ and the witnessed فَيُنَبِّئُكُم and He will inform you بِمَا [of] what كُنتُمْ you used to تَعْمَلُونَ do ٨
Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee - indeed, it will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do."
— Come To Light
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O ٱلَّذِينَ (you) who ءَامَنُوٓا۟ believe إِذَا When نُودِىَ (the) call is made لِلصَّلَوٰةِ for (the) prayer مِن on يَوْمِ (the) day ٱلْجُمُعَةِ (of) Friday فَٱسْعَوْا۟ then hasten إِلَىٰ to ذِكْرِ (the) remembrance ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah وَذَرُوا۟ and leave ٱلْبَيْعَ ۚ the business ذَٰلِكُمْ That خَيْرٌۭ (is) better لَّكُمْ for you إِن if كُنتُمْ you تَعْلَمُونَ know ٩
O you who have believed, when [the adhān] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumuʿah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allāh and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.
— Come To Light
فَإِذَا Then when قُضِيَتِ is concluded ٱلصَّلَوٰةُ the prayer فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟ then disperse فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the land وَٱبْتَغُوا۟ and seek مِن from فَضْلِ (the) Bounty ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ and remember ٱللَّهَ Allah كَثِيرًۭا much لَّعَلَّكُمْ so that you may تُفْلِحُونَ succeed ١٠
And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allāh, and remember Allāh often that you may succeed.
— Come To Light
وَإِذَا And when رَأَوْا۟ they saw تِجَـٰرَةً a transaction أَوْ or لَهْوًا a sport ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟ they rushed إِلَيْهَا to it وَتَرَكُوكَ and left you قَآئِمًۭا ۚ standing قُلْ Say مَا What عِندَ (is) with ٱللَّهِ Allah خَيْرٌۭ (is) better مِّنَ than ٱللَّهْوِ the sport وَمِنَ and from ٱلتِّجَـٰرَةِ ۚ (any) transaction وَٱللَّهُ And Allah خَيْرُ (is the) Best ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ (of) the Providers ١١
But [on one occasion] when they saw a transaction or a diversion, [O Muḥammad], they rushed to it and left you standing. Say, "What is with Allāh is better than diversion and than a transaction, and Allāh is the best of providers."
